Jury Comments
Clean, simple massing helps to break up this long, large building while the stone foundation helps to tie it all together. Nicely punctuates at each end with the colonnaded entry elements which help to pull strong stone elements to these elevations. This project is uniquely suited to its site and use, contributing to our award for its brick craftsmanship. Sensitive solution to existing campus. Scale of materials are very classical in a contemporary language.

Jury Comments
Nice composition setting the ground face CMU element off against the new brick classroom wing. Unfortunate that move could not have been done with the older existing building. Premier night and day photography caught our eye, bringing attention to the ground face block and top honors in this category. Inventive use of CMU as linkage and transition material between masonry.

Relationship of the new stone elements to existing stone gymnasium building works well; stone work inside helps to carry this feeling through the interiors as well. The stone honor award goes to this project with the use of stone, sympathetic and complimentary of the existing building as well as being detailed very nice. Respectful organization and material detailing. Existing gym is integrated into composition, but in respectful manner. Integration of masonry into interior should serve the school well over time.

Detailing on this limestone clad administrative volume is very nicely handled. Although only one third the project’s focus, it was enough to garner our merit award with bold yet stylish use of natural stone and modern detailing. Chaotic organization, detailing of stone volume is inventive, yet respectful of traditional masonry language.

Jury Comments
Clean simple building, nicely set apart by the floating roof structure and well detailed stone work. We think the designer’s intent to give a residential feel to the bank was indeed successful, pleasantly proportioned with the stone and glass, and not out of scale. Balance of the stone and brick gives a pattern and rhythm to building with raises above everyday design. Detail of stone coursing adds interest to the base and entrance lobby.

Piazza has a very calm and sever look about it and appears to link existing buildings together in a simple yet strong manner. Special notice is paid to this reverent use of natural materials, granite, and stone pavers, which together with the waterfall effect, produces a successful and unique work. Simple concept is well executed.
